Soltrey places in a fictional format new theories relating to human consciousness how it is generated in our brain and body, its origin through evolution, and how best to utilize it.
Behind the story are several technical hypotheses about how our nervous system has been able to produce this remarkable experience of self-awareness. This is a scientific story but also seeks to explain some of the origins of various myths and spiritual precepts as they have come down to us.
As Lovejoy emerges from monastic life and rediscovers the mundane world, he finds characters with remarkable views and learns old lessons about life, science, philosophy and religion with new eyes. Simultaneously guardians of the Earth monitor and sometimes argue over ongoing events, and interact with Lovejoy.
The author hopes that in learning how our brain has come to this point of creating both scientific and spiritual ways of understanding our environment, we can optimize our use of that brain. Various specific and unexpected results derive from this analysis such as practical techniques for slowing the aging process, and a description of what we call Free Will.
After creating a new framework for understanding the world around us, this book does not seek to answer the unanswerable, rather it proposes many questions. It is hoped that the complex and far-ranging topics will leave the reader with many opportunities to find personal meaning in this work.
The book touches upon cognitive science, proprioceptive function, right-left brain specialization, epistemology, electromagnetic biology, ethics, spiritual precepts, paranormal claims, psychotropic plants, anti-aging techniques, philosophical concepts such as free will and the pursuit of happiness.

Soltrey eBook Brian Brown
Soltrey introduces intriguing new ideas about how human minds became self-conscious. Using a Platonic Dialogues style of writing, complex scientific explanations are simplified so non-scientists can understand. It is a story of man (and other people he meets) on a personal lifelong search for a connection with religion and God or gods. His theory about the electro-magnetic field we create while we are alive (created by our nervous system as it moves electrons around/through our bodies) uses modern physics to suggest that if this e-m field is strong enough, it could survive the death of the body and carry on after our bodies die. There are fun and amazing discussions of the soul and karma and all kinds of religious ideas mixed with scientific explanations/explorations.Product details
